| I am qualified to comment on medical legal matters concerning the actions of psychoactive drugs for the following reasons. I received my M.S. and Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Washington and my Medical Degree from the University of California at Irvine. My many research articles focus on the psychopharmacology of sedative and antiepileptic drugs. Previously an Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Anesthesiology at the Oregon Health Sciences University, I practiced anesthesiology at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Portland, Oregon until 2006. I recently published the 11th edition of my psychopharmacology textbook A Primer of Drug Action (Worth Publishers, 2008). Now with 30 years of continuous publication, A Primer of Drug Action is regarded as the definitive textbook of psychopharmacology, covering both psychotherapeutic agents as well as substances of abuse. Finally, I lecture across the country on psychopharmacology to professional audiences. I consult widely on drug-related legal cases and have been court-qualified on many occasions. |
